Canada Day on Bowen Island!

The Human Statues will be returning to Bowen Island on July 1st to celebrate Canada Day. This time Jeff and Zach will be joined by "Buddy" castmates Jeremy Holmes and Scott Carmichael on bass and drums.

THS will kick things off at Crippen Park at noon, combining original material with some favourite songs from the catalogue of Buddy Holly and The Beatles.

37 Shows Sold Out!

With 3 and a half weeks left, 37 of 69 shows have already sold out for the Arts Club production of "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story"! With extraordinary reviews and buzz about the show spreading around town, it's likely the balance of the run will sell out soon.

Zach and I would like to thank everyone involved with the production for their dedication and hard work, and we look forward to the rest of the shows between now and July 11th!

"The Man on the Radio" on CBC Radio One

Yesterday "The Man on the Radio" was spun on CBC Radio One in Vancouver. The July 5th show at the Revue Statue was also plugged!

"Buddy" Opens Tonight!

After a 3 week rehearsal process, "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story" opens tonight at the Stanley theatre in Vancouver. We're excited to kick things off, everyone involved is doing an incredible job.

This afternoon we had our third preview in front of a sold out crowd. By the end of each show the audience has been on its feet, dancing along to the music. Zach and I have also had a chance to meet some of the patrons at the end of the show in the lobby, and have received a lot of great feedback about the show. Great job to everyone in the cast and crew!

Zach Interviewed by Red Robinson

Today Zach had the opportunity to meet iconic broadcaster Red Robinson, who interviewed Zach for the show at the theatre this afternoon.

Red introduced Elvis in 1957 and The Beatles in 1964 at their Empire Stadium shows when each of those acts performed in Vancouver for the first time. Red actually interviewed Buddy himself back in the day and helped break his first major record "That'll Be The Day" in Canada.

The Good, The Bad & The Buddy

Today at rehearsal for "The Buddy Holly Story" at the Arts Club, the theme song from "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" was heard looming amidst the ambient sounds of Granville Island. This resulted in a spontaneous interpretation of a pivotal scene in Act II that I captured on my iPhone. Here I present "The Good, The Bad & The Buddy" a clip that is sure to provide hilarity for anybody that has worked on this show and mild amusement for anybody else.

Jeff's 30th Bday

Yesterday I turned 30 years old. The cast/crew of the show were very kind and congratulated me on the achievement with singing, cake and a hat that enabled me to surpass the 10' mark:

Last night Zach presented me with a "The Price Is Right" t-shirt, which is an homage to our band font: Pricedown.

Zach Busks for Buddy

Today Zach rocked out with Peter Birnie from the Vancouver Sun today in an impromptu busking performance on Granville Island. Zach made $13 and apparently there was a spike in ticket sales for the show. Peter Birnie, the other "4th Cricket".

Bumped into my good friend Zachary Stevenson today, while hanging out on Granville Street. Interestingly we had both recently acquired Converse shoes and were putting out our vibe on the streets of Vancouver. Also of note, the shoes were not, in fact, purchased at Payless Shoe Source.

Things got heated today in rehearsals for "Buddy" when Scott tried to take a swing at Zach. It is inconclusive based on this picture whether Jeremy was trying to assist Zach or Scott in the exchange.

Investing a lot of time right now in improving my knowledge of social networking. I have a feeling it is time well spent. Also getting into video editing again. Lots of stuff on the horizon at the moment, including plans for a new website, new video content, new songs as well as "The Buddy Holly Musical" which opens on May 19 at the Stanley theatre in Vancouver.
